MLK Day of Service: January 19 at 11 a.m. in the Parish Hall
MLK Event 2025: There will be three beneficiaries of our collective efforts this year:
- your contribution of a non-perishable food item will benefit St. Luke’s food pantry
- 1000 snack bags will be created to benefit Face to Face Germantown
- Wound Care kits and snack bags will be made to benefit The Clare Project, serving the homeless living on the streets of Kensington.
Here’s how you can help:
- On Wednesday (1/15) evening this week, a small group will gather in the parish hall to open boxes and organize product beginning at 5:00 pm. Let Karen Richter know if you can show up to help. Karenrichter120@gmail.com
- We are asking all parish families to bring a non-perishable food item on Sunday, 1/19 to benefit St. Luke’s. Items in cans or boxes are preferred (no glass). Food pantries are always in need of (canned) tuna, chicken, vegetables, soups, beans, Chef Boyardee products, spaghetti sauce. Packaged foods that are desirable are any kind of pasta, instant mashed potatoes, side dishes such as the Knorr brand, rices, and cereals. Marked boxes will be set up in the narthex and in the parish hall for your contributions.
- Shift #1: Beginning immediately after the formation hour, adults and kids can gather in the parish hall to primarily work on the cards that are inserted in each snack bag. At approximately 11:30, adults and kids can start to fill the bags for Face to Face Germantown as we need to deliver them first.
- Shift #2: The second shift will assist in finishing the snack bags, packing them up for transport. Meanwhile, adults will begin assembly of the wound care kits and second set of snack bags which will be organized on the stage. Lunch will also be served at 12:15.
