Fr. Eric’s Sabbatical Appeal

Dear friends,

As Fr. Eric described in his recent letter to the parish, he will have a time of sabbatical during the summer of 2026.  This time is crucial to his ministry and to our work together as a parish; his sabbatical will provide him with a time to step out of the rhythms of parish ministry and engage in renewal and study.   While we will certainly miss Fr. Eric and his family during this time, he will no doubt return to St. Paul’s with fresh energy and new ideas for us.  During the summer months, we will be in Mtr. Madeleine’s capable hands (with support for Sunday services and pastoral needs from familiar and new clergy friends).  And, of course, we will look forward to welcoming Fr. Eric back to St. Paul’s with joy on Welcome Home Sunday!

This time of restoration and study is a commitment of both time and financial resources.  Fr. Eric has already sought diocesan support for his sabbatical, and we too have the opportunity to support this endeavor financially.  On behalf of the Vestry, I invite you to prayerfully consider contributing to a special collection that will enable Fr. Eric to make the deepest and most rewarding use of this precious time.

You may contribute either online using Realm, selecting “Sabbatical” from the dropdown options or, if you prefer, sending a check to the church office.  (Please indicate “Rector Sabbatical” on the memo line.)  In order to facilitate planning, we hope that you will contribute by March 18th.

We as a parish are richly blessed to have Fr. Eric ministering with and among us.  I hope you’ll join me in supporting him through this sabbatical time both financially and with your prayers.

Peace,

Kara McShane, on behalf of the Vestry
