Depaul

First up, many thanks to all who supported our latest collection of needed cleaning supplies to benefit Depaul, Philadelphia.

Depaul had its beginning in Philadelphia and has grown to include locations in 11 cities around the US. They offer a variety of services to folks with various needs through several different programs. Our efforts are directed primarily toward these 2 efforts.

Depaul House, is a 27-room recovery house for men in Philadelphia. All referrals originate with the Philadelphia Office of Addiction Services (OAS). This program is innovative in its employment-focused approach to help men move out of homelessness. It seeks to achieve systemic change: breaking the cycle of poverty by working with people who are living on the margins and integrating them into the community.

The Dax program (started in 2015) works with college students who are housing insecure. The program has three primary goals:

1) Obtain employment and increase earnings potential.

75% of participants will have increased income through employment.

90% of residents will maintain progress towards college graduation.

2) Improve connections made to behavioral and physical health services.

50% of residents will receive primary care services in the first six months.

80% of residents with identified behavioral health needs will be connected to community services.

3) Increase housing stability.

95% of residents will exit to permanent housing.

Depaul is currently funded for only 60% of their total needs and depend heavily on generous donors to help with their various ministries.
