Children’s Music

Joyful Noise

Led by Mrs. Rebekah Crocker, Joyful Noise is an early introductory music class for ages 1-4. Children will be engaged in musical activities to learn principles such as musical expression, singing, tempo, musical dynamics, and basic musical instrumentation. Joyful Noise is an accessible and enjoyable way for children to engage with music in order to further their growth as young artists and musicians. This group will take place Wednesday nights from 5:30-6:15 with dinner offered on a biweekly basis. Please feel free to reach out with any questions to Rebekah by emailing rebekahxx10@gmail.com.

ChoriStarters

ChoriStarters is comprised of children ages 5-7. The group, under the direction of Karen Richter, meets concurrently with the older choristers on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00pm. The children gather in the Children’s Library, opening every rehearsal with the ringing of the chime and a simple prayer, based on the Godly Play model. Since they are in training to join the Choristers at age 8 (or whenever they are ready), they warm up to vocal exercises and practice solfege syllables and rhythmic patterns. Those who can read are encouraged to use the Lift Every Voice and Sing hymnal from which we draw a majority of our repertoire.
