MEMENTO MORTUORUM (REMEMBER THE DEAD) AT ST. PAUL’S ADULT EDUCATION FORUM 11/17/24
As we traditionally mark November, the month of All Souls, Philadelphia historian and frequent visitor to St. Paul’s, Tom Keels, will give an illustrated presentation, Memento Mortuorum: How We Remember the Dead at St. Paul’s Adult Education Forum beginning at 9:45 AM on Sunday, November 17. Memento Mortuorum will trace the history of burial and mourning practices in our area from the days of the Lenni Lenape, through the rise of colonial graveyards and Victorian rural cemeteries, to today’s cremations and green burials. Tom is the author or co-author of seven published books on local history, including Chestnut Hill and Philadelphia Graveyards and Cemeteries. He has been a tour guide at historic Laurel Hill Cemetery for nearly thirty years.
