Family Promise of Philadelphia needs our help!

“At Family Promise of Philadelphia, we regularly encounter families going through hard times, regardless of the season. Summer can present challenges: “Where can we go to be in air conditioning?”; “What will I do with the kids so I can work now that school is out?”; “How can I find a safe and affordable fan?”

There are many ways you can help: We are always accepting working fans and window air conditioners. Arrange to drop off a fan or have an air conditioner picked up by emailing us here: donations@familypromisephl.org

Does your family include a strong, socially conscious high school or college student looking for a way to add community service to their college application or resume? If they’d be willing to help transport donated goods to families we serve and help families move into or out of our shelter program, encourage them to email max@familypromisephl.org

Do you have a working automobile to donate? Sure, you could donate it to one of the big local charities that then sells it through a partnership with a car dealership. Or you could donate your vehicle to FPP so it can help those we serve. Here’s a current example.

One of the young men who grew up in our shelter program has come a long way since staying in our congregational shelter program. He’s in his final year of studying for his engineering degree at IUP. He needs a car to make the 40-minute commute between Indiana, PA and Latrobe, PA where he works in a warehouse.  To date, he’s been able to count on friends to drive him to work, but that’s not sustainable. If you attended our recent Annual Meeting (see below) you would have heard him tell his remarkable story. And you would immediately understand how your vehicle donation can change a life.  I’m happy to discuss it with you. Email me at bob@familypromisephl.org” (Bob Byrne, Executive Director, Family Promise of Philadelphia).
