2025 Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

As we prepare for another Thanksgiving, many families in our region are struggling just to put food on the table. More than 210,000 Philadelphians—over one in eight—experience food insecurity, and local food pantries report a surge of more than 20% in demand over the past three years. Rising grocery costs—up over 30% since 2020—and cuts to SNAP benefits have made it harder than ever for families to afford even basic ingredients for a holiday meal.

Over the last five years, your generosity has provided more than 750 Thanksgiving dinners to our neighbors through St. Luke’s Germantown Food Pantry and Face to Face Germantown. Last year, we expanded our reach to include Family Promise Montco PA, whose pantry distributed more than 200,000 pounds of food to over 2,500 people.

These organizations—and the families they serve—need our help more than ever this season. Together, we can feed hope. We again invite you to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for these families by either:

  • Creating a meal for a family by filling two reusable shopping bags using the list below, or
  • Or, you can donate: donate $50 to St. Paul’s- Thanksgiving Food and we will assemble the meal bags and deliver with the others. (For online donations, select “Thanksgiving Food”. Or, mail check payable to St. Paul’s Church, memo: Thanksgiving Food Drive. St. Paul’s Church, 22 East Chestnut Hill Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118)

If you plan to participate, please let us know by November 16 whether you prefer to create or fund the meal bags by signing up here.

A meal includes Bag 1 + Bag 2  Since many of the recipients will be walking or taking public transportation, reusable bags will allow for easier transport.

Reusable shopping bag #1 – frozen items:

  • 1 10-12 lbs frozen turkey
  • 1 frozen pumpkin or apple pie

Reusable shopping bag #2 – dry goods:

  • 1 box of mashed potatoes
  • 1 14 oz. can cranberry sauce
  • 2 6 oz. boxes of Stove Top Mix for Turkey
  • 2 14.05 oz cans of green beans
  • 1 12 oz. jar of turkey gravy

Drop-off Details:
Shoppers, please plan to drop off your meal to St. Paul’s Dixon House on Sunday, November 23, 9-11 a.m.  Remember: there is a combined service at 10:00am on this day, to mark Thanksgiving and the end of the 2026 Pledge Campaign.  Bring your goods to drop off, and stop off for an early coffee hour in Dixon House before the service begins.

Thank you, in advance, for giving the gift of nourishment, dignity, and community this holiday season.

With gratitude,

Lisa and Mike Budd
