Parish Pilgrimage to the Standing Rock Reservation – July 14 – 21

Friday, July 14 – Friday, July 21

Each summer, high school youth and adults are invited to participate in the annual pilgrimage as peers with Sioux youth and adults in providing a three-day summer camp for children on the Standing Rock Reservation, 3567 square miles spanning the border of North and South Dakota.

We will visit the following places:

  • Fort Abraham Lincoln, from which Custer rode out to the Little Big Horn;
  • A reconstructed village of the Mandan tribe;
  • Where the Lewis and Clark exploration took place; and
  • The North Dakota Heritage Center.

Our second rector, William Hobart Hare, served as Bishop to the Great Sioux Nation, ministering among the native peoples in the late 1800’s throughout the Dakotas.  It is always a life-changing experience for those who go!
