Hospitality

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Hebrews 13:2

Hospitality is a driving force behind our warm welcome to visitors at St. Paul’s.  Parish life revolves frequently around the kitchen; we cook joyfully for others and for ourselves, and we take great pleasure in breaking bread together at a variety of parish events.

Breakfast Teams

Breakfast teams are a 20-year tradition at St. Paul’s.  Six groups of 4-8 volunteers meet in rotation to prepare and serve a substantial breakfast almost every Sunday morning from September through May.  A hot dish, fruit and cereal, and good coffee are served each week. Breakfast takes place from 8:30-9:30am in the Parish Hall, and all are welcome to participate before or after worship and Christian Education. A small donation is requested to cover costs.

All-Parish Meals and Receptions

On several special days during the year, the parish gathers together for a midday or evening meal.  Welcome Sunday (September), the Annual Meeting (May), and a Pancake Supper on Shrove Tuesday are traditional occasions, in addition to seasonal and community events that vary from year to year.  Frequently these meals are potluck style.  Festive evening receptions are held following most services of Choral Evensong and Lessons & Carols.

Coffee Hour

Parishioners and visitors are always welcome at Coffee Hour in Dixon House following the 11:00am service.  Volunteers prepare tasty snacks and help with set-up.

The Hospitality Committee meets once a month to coordinate all this activity and to oversee the kitchen.  Volunteers are always welcome to participate in any of these events and should contact the office to offer their services.
