Advent Service with Carols 2017

Sunday December 3rd at 5:00pm

The Virgin and Child , 11th century, England. The Anglo-Saxon ‘O Antiphons’: O Jerusalem, Vision of Peace.

A special service of carols, hymns, and readings for the First Sunday of Advent.  Advent is a solemn season, during which we anticipate the coming of Christ with longing, hope, and finally joy.

All are welcome.  Our guests at this service will be the community of St. James School, located in the Allegheny West neighborhood of Philadelphia. St. James School is a faith-based middle school in the Episcopal tradition, committed to educating traditionally underresourced students in a nurturing environment.

The service is followed by a ticketed reception organized by St. James School as a fundraiser. “A Victorian Christmas” includes cocktails, dinner, auctions and entertainment. Follow this link for information and to purchase tickets: https://stjamesphila.org/christmas-benefit/.
